Discontinuation of Google Cloud Print

Google has announced that their Google Cloud Print service will no longer be supported after December 31, 2020.

The discontinuation means that Canon inkjet printers will no longer work with Google Cloud Print after this date.

Canon has decided to support ChromeOS native printing, recommended by Google, as an alternative to Google Cloud Print.

We offer our sincerest apologies to any customers who will be inconvenienced by this announcement.

Expected behavior when Google Cloud Print is used after discontinuation:

• Printing will not start and no error will appear, even when printing is attempted, as the print job will not be pushed from Google Cloud Print to the printer.
• New registration and setting changes will not be possible when Google Cloud Print setup is selected on the printer’s operation panel. "Cannot connect to the sever" may be displayed.
• The Google Cloud Print registration information (stored in the individual account and the printer) will be deleted.

Steps for enabling ChromeOS native printing:

ChromeOS native printing will be supported as an alternative to GCP.

Note: Printing can be performed after the printer is found and added in the OS setting window. Please see Google's guide for setting up your printer.

• Select Settings.
• At the bottom, select Advanced.
• Under Printing, select Printers.
• Under Available printers to save, next to your printer, select Save
• Check that your printer appears at the top, under Saved printers.
